Rose Kuniawati had already been part of the team at Estia Health Strathalbyn, working in cleaning and kitchen-hand roles. But deep down, she knew she had more to offer and a desire to contribute more directly to resident care and well-being.
“Before I did a cleaning job here, cleaning and working as a kitchen-hand. Estia gave me the opportunity to be a carer.”
Starting a new chapter
Recognising her potential and enthusiasm, Estia Health introduced Rose to Apprenticeship Careers Australia, an organisation that specialises in recruiting and supporting trainees in the Aged Care and Community Care sector. Through their program, Rose began a traineeship, quickly realising she had found her calling.
“It's different. It's more fun, more happiness. All these lovely people that I have been meeting, everything is just beautiful.”
From the outset, Rose received comprehensive training that gave her both confidence and practical skills. Apprenticeship Careers Australia not only supported her formal training but also equipped her with the tools to be a safe and effective team member.
“They’re training me very well, they direct me on how to be a good teamworker, and how to be safe when you do the job.”
Now fully qualified, Rose continues to work at Estia Health Strathalbyn, but in a completely different capacity. As a carer, she’s formed meaningful connections with residents and has become a valued and beloved member of the team.
With the guidance of Apprenticeship Careers Australia and the trust of Estia Health, Rose transitioned from support roles into a fulfilling and impactful career in aged care, where her warmth and dedication now make a daily difference in the lives of residents.
