Role Description

Here at Apprenticeship Careers Australia (ACA) we currently have an exciting opportunity for applicants looking to start their career through a Certificate III Horticulture – Parks & Gardens over 48 months, located in Killarney Heights & hosted by McGee Turf

Our Apprenticeship Program offers a unique blend of on-the-job training, mentorship, and classroom learning. As a trainee, you will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining practical experience and developing valuable industry skills. This program is perfect for recent graduates, career changers, and anyone eager to learn and grow in a supportive environment.

Duties:

  • Garden maintenance: pruning trees and shrubs, mowing lawns, mulching garden beds, hedging, trimming, fertilising, and regular weeding to keep gardens looking their best.

  • New garden installations: preparing soil, planting trees, shrubs, and flowers, laying turf, setting up garden beds, and assisting with landscaping for residential and commercial projects.

  • Safe equipment operation: learning to use and maintain hand tools, whipper snippers, brush cutters, blowers, ride-on mowers, and other horticultural equipment.

  • Irrigation & watering systems: assisting with the installation, maintenance, and repair of garden irrigation systems to ensure plants receive the right care.

  • Teamwork & learning: working closely with qualified tradespeople, following WHS practices, and completing your formal training towards a nationally recognised qualification in Parks & Gardens.
     

Skills and responsibilities:

  • Provisional Drivers Licence or close to attaining

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to follow & adhere to policies and procedures 

  • Reliable and punctual

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Have a strong work ethic and motivated to learn

  • Passionate for field & result driven
