This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Facilities and Maintenance team at Alwyndor in Hove, where you will help maintain and enhance the beautiful outdoor spaces that make a real difference to residents, staff and visitors every day.

You will contribute to the overall maintenance, improvement and enhancement of the grounds, gardens and external amenities to ensure they are safe, attractive and therapeutic for residents, staff and visitors. This role contributes to creating a welcoming and tranquil environment that supports the well-being and quality of life for elderly residents.

About the Role

As a Parks and Gardens Trainee, you will gain hands-on experience while completing a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens (on-the-job training).

You will work alongside experienced staff and develop practical skills in all aspects of garden and grounds maintenance

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lawn and garden maintenance (mowing, edging , weeding, planting)

  • Landscape maintenance and irrigation support

  • Seasonal planting and garden improvements

  • Monitoring plant health and basic pest management

  • Maintaining outdoor furniture and equipment

  • Supporting general grounds presentation and upkeep

About You:

We are looking for someone who is motivated, reliable and eager to learn.

You will bring:

  • A genuine interest in horticulture and outdoor work

  • Physical fitness and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic

  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team

  • Prior gardening knowledge or experience beneficial but not essential

  • A current South Australian driver's licence

This is a 2-3 year traineeship and you must be willing to undertake study as part of your role and commit to completing a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens.

Appointment is subject to obtaining a National Police Clearance prior to commencement, as well as successfully completing a Functional Assessment.
