The NSW Government Infrastructure Traineeship Program is a great way to earn while getting valuable on-the-job experience that supports the growth of metro and regional communities across New South Wales. 

This is a two-year traineeship program that combines TAFE NSW studies with practical experience working with more than 15 NSW Government agencies as well as public and private sector industry employers. What is a traineeship?

A traineeship is a type of vocational training (training under a supervisor) where you will earn a wage and complete a course at the same time. 

A traineeship is just like an apprenticeship, but often takes place in an office environment. These traineeships take 24 months to complete and upon completion you will receive a Certificate IV in your chosen field.

How does the traineeship work?

The NSW Government Infrastructure Traineeships are office-based. If the student is successful, they will spend time at a NSW Government agency and private sector industry employers, having 1-2 private sector industry placements.

Students will be given 1-2 days during the week to study and complete online TAFE NSW courses and courses are done online during the week, outside of the workforce.

No prior experience is required. The NSW Government Infrastructure Program and Apprenticeship Careers Australia are after students who have finished school and are keen to start a career.

If the student is successful, they will earn $38,000 annual salary*
*Based on NSW Traineeship award wage

Yes, the NSW Government Infrastructure program can lead students to a higher education like University if they wish to gain further qualifications.  Although a large number of the program trainees receive job offers within the program for ongoing employment after the traineeship is completed.
