ABOUT THE ROLEThis is a full-time Draftsperson (Engineering) Traineeship opportunity with Apprenticeship Careers Australia and our host employer. You will be responsible for providing high-quality engineering drafting services to support the company's operations and projects. You will learn and work alongside qualified professionals that work within the business and learn all their is to know from scratch. During your time employed in the traineeship you will attend TAFE and work through completing your components over the 2-year duration, and gain a Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting (MEM40422).
WHAT IS THIS TRAINEESHIP? This traineeship is a 24-month duration. During this time you will be working full-time (38 hours per week), Monday to Friday, where you will be mentored through training and supervision. During your working week you will be allocated 3-hours paid study time to work toward completing your Certificate IV in Engineering Drafting .
JOB ROLEInteracting with Computing Technology: Dive into the latest engineering software and computer technology to support your drafting work. Interpreting Drawings: Develop the skills to read and understand complex engineering drawings, learning how to translate them into detailed designs. Producing Basic Engineering Details: Assist in creating accurate and detailed engineering drawings to support project planning and implementation. Operating CAD Software: Use industry-standard CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software to produce and refine engineering designs, ensuring they meet all specifications and standards. Customer service: Assist clients via phone call, email and in person with inquiries and offering educated advice. *** The above tasks will be demonstrated and taught to you during your traineeship ***
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Organisational Skills: Learn to manage multiple projects, keep track of updates, and maintain a structured workflow to meet deadlines. Mechanical Aptitude: Develop a hands-on understanding of engineering principles and mechanical systems that form the basis of your drafting work. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality technical drawings Problem Solving: interpret engineering data and specifications to the drafting process and apply creative problem-solving techniques to resolve the problem. Software experience: Proficiency in using CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. Customer Service: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with cross-functional teams and build rapport with clients. A keen interest in engineering and a willingness to learn and develop new skills!
