Apprenticeship Careers Australia (ACA) is the leading employer of apprentices and trainees in the furniture and joinery sectors. We help mentor and support the next generation of Cabinet industry apprentices through employment and vocational education pathways.

Here at ACA we currently have an awesome opportunity for a motivated 1st Year Furniture Finishing Apprentice to join our team located in the Camden area. The successful applicant will work with a family owned company that have been in business for many years. They will mentor and guide you, providing your practical experience working mainly in the factory restoring furniture and preparing new kitchen cabinet and splash backs. You will be working with high end furniture and quality timbers.

The Role:

As a Furniture Finishing Apprentice you will work new and old furniture and cabinetry. You will learn traditional and modern preparation and finishing techniques. Whilst gaining experience on the job with experienced tradespeople and you will attend TAFE to study a Cert III in Furniture Finishing.

 

Duties may include:

  • Preparation surfaces, stripping old finishes
  • Painting of joinery, glass and free standing furniture
  • Colour matching/colour changing
  • House Keeping, keeping workshop organised
  • Learning to use traditional methods and modern spray painting 
  • Use of specialised safety gear and procedures

 

Potential Candidates

  • Must be Australian citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Driver’s licence preferred but not essential
  • Be open to gaining experience in all facets of the trade
  • Eager to learn and able to follow instructions 
  • Safe workers with a great for detail
  • Excellent communicator

 

This opportunity comes with great work hours! Start at 5:00 - 6:00am and finish at 2:30pm, with an early finish on Fridays!
