Tackling the Aged Care Skill Shortage

Australia’s aged care sector is facing a workforce crisis. Apprenticeship Careers Australia’s (ACA) GTO Manager, Melissa Clark, spoke to ABC News South Australia about the struggles providers are experiencing in attracting accredited employees.

According to Clark, the demand for workers in this sector is increasing daily. Calls to Apprenticeship Careers Australia have escalated as employers struggle to fill roles as “they simply cannot keep up.”

ACA has built a reputation as a leading provider of entry level workers for the Australian healthcare sector, specialising in disability support, aged care, and other community services.

Two of ACA’s latest graduates from the Skilling South Australia Program featured on ABC News have given credit to the training they’ve received. The program provided valuable skills and knowledge that has enabled them to commence their careers in aged and community care.

The Skilling South Australia Program is a State Government initiative that gives trainees the essential skills to begin their careers in the industry.
