APPRENTICESHIP CAREERS AUSTRALIA WINS AT GROUP TRAINING AWARDS!

Posted on 25/10/2019
The awards recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector and both Laura Vilcek (Women In Non Traditional Trade Apprentice of the Year) and Kimberly Vella (Trainee of the Year) were honoured for their commitment and dedication to their studies and work.

As a young female in a non-traditional trade, Laura Vilcek has had to contend with a number of challenges, showing great dedication and resilience to succeed on the job and in the process, became a key leader at 10 Four Truck Repairs, her host employer. She completed her Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology through TAFE, and as the only female in the class, Laura saw this as an opportunity to push herself so she could stand out from her peers and challenge her classmate’s perceptions of her. Laura is a highly dedicated and committed young lady. Not only did she complete her TAFE coursework 11 months early, she also gained her heavy vehicle licence, forklift licence and is working towards an air-conditioning course with a long-term plan to also complete an auto-electrical course. This, coupled with her exceptional leadership skills and drive shown on the job, makes Laura a fantastic role model for other young women.

Kimberly Vella (pictured above) is an example of an exceptionally determined, driven and hard-working young person who has consistently gone above and beyond her role to drive results for her host employer, Alliance Community. As a part of her traineeship, Kim completed her Traineeship in Business Administration through Allara Learning, who facilitated her accelerated training due to the speed and quality of the work she delivered. She completed 70% of her two-year course within the first four months of her training, whilst demonstrating an incredible work ethic on the job, regularly beating set KPIS. Last night, Apprenticeship Careers Australia's (ACA) Faith Paglinawan and Charles Herald, were recognised as finalists in the 2019 NSW Training Awards Central and North Sydney region, with Faith finishing up as runner up in the Trainee of the Year category.

ACA General Manager, Luke Radford, has credited the resilience and determination of Laura and Kimberley being central to their recognition at the awards night, and hopes this will springboard them to further success.
